Valentines day has come and gone, a day to show the ones you love how much you really do care. Even if it's only a quiet evening at home, or a wild night on the town, spending it with loved ones is the only way to go.
In the distant past, I've spent the day alone. It sucks. I know you have all been there. Everywhere you look, couples are staring at each other googly eyed. Every TV commercial is featuring roses and candy. You can't leave the house on without feeling like social outcast.
My husband and I usually do the quiet evening at home. He offered to cook dinner, so he brought home some steaks and we did them out on the grill. Winter style. I made a lovely chocolate desert.
Being the sweetie that he is, my husband brought me home roses. For some reason, I just love RED RED roses. I know, they are overdone and trite on Valentines Day. There is just something about getting them that lets you know that you are loved. Like a dancer twirling her skirt, they slowly unfurl themselves as the days go by, and their heady aroma fills the room.
My son got several cards this year from family and friends. I don't think he is going to have any problem with school food when the time comes. He already seems to have a fondness for cardboard.

My favorite poem about love:
A Red, Red Rose
Oh my luve is like a red, red rose,
That's newly sprung in June:
Oh my luve is like the melodie,
That's sweetly play'd in tune.
As fair art thou, my bonie lass,
So deep in luve am I;
And I will luve thee still, my dear,
Till a' the seas gang dry.
Till a' the seas gang dry, my dear,
And the rocks melt wi' the sun;
And I will luve thee still, my dear,
While the sands o' life shall run.
And fare thee weel, my only luve!
And fare thee weel a while!
And I will come again, my luve,
Tho' it were ten thousand mile!

Also, a package arrived from Grandma for my son on Valentines Day! It was the outfit! You see, she cut out this outfit 18 years ago for her youngest boy, my son's Uncle. She never got it finished, so when we had a boy, she thought maybe she should haul it out of the trunk. A few alterations later, it was done. This picture is of my son wearing it. It is so adorable. Good job, Grandma!
