**Orginally appered in the MOPS Spotlight, Vol 2 Issue 1 published Sept 9, 2008**
I’ve been scatterbrained lately. Really REALLY scatterbrained. So much so, that instead of being irritated at me for losing my car keys again, my husband just laughs and joins me in the search.
On a recent trip to the grocery, I realized I had lost my debit card. Franticly searching through all my pockets turned up nothing, so I paid with a check and went on my way. I knew the last time I had seen it was in the house, so I wasn’t really worried. A week went by, and still no card. Finally, I ordered a new one. On the day it arrived, I found the old one stuck between the flour and the rice in the pantry.
While eating lunch with my family at a local fast food place, I looked out the window to discover my drivers door was hanging wide open. My husband was worried that maybe someone had broken in, but no, it was just me being scatterbrained.
In the past year, I’ve walked into a Dr’s office on three separate occasions on the wrong day for an appointment.
I contend that I’m just too busy to notice. My kids are screaming, wet, hungry or bored. In short, they NEED me RIGHT NOW! My kids usually win out, leaving me frazzled and looking frantically for the item of the day. I can’t be bothered with silly things like writing dates down correctly or closing doors!
Like me, you may find yourself doing silly things or forgetting important dates. You may find yourself in the middle of a mess, with no diaper wipes or even diapers. What do you do? Why, ask other Mom’s for help. That’s why we are here.
I make a promise to you today. We will not judge you by the clothes your children wear and how many stains they are proudly showing off today. We will not think you are a bad Mom because you forgot the diaper bag at home with all the bottles and diapers. We know that kids scream, make messes, act unkindly, and in general can be a pain in the butt. We know that sometimes your husband just doesn’t get it. We know that sometimes you feel depressed, resentful and angry at life and EVERYTHING.
We understand, we will help. We will listen. We are MOPS!
Welcome to MOPS, where we all understand, because frankly, we have all been there ourselves.
